So most of these letters are just normal straight edge letters, but I decided to be extra brave and attempt a cursive 'L' to decorate my room with!
Here is the finished product....
If you'd like to know how I made this them just keep reading :-)
You will need...
1⃣ Cardboard Box
2⃣ Scissors
3⃣ Superglue / Sellotape (I used sellotape)
4⃣ PVA Glue & Newspaper
5⃣ Ruler / Measuring Tape
6⃣ Pen / Pencil
Step 1
You need to decide what size letter you want, I wanted mine quite small so I got a small cardboard box.
The next thing you need to do is draw how you want your letter to look onto one side of the box.
Step 2
Remember to leave some space around the letter so that you can make it 3D ;-) Outline the whole letter so that it is the exact size and shape you want. Then cut it out!
Step 3
Use this cut out letter as a stencil to help you get the exact same size and shape on the other side of the cardboard box. This is going to the the front and the back pieces to your letter :-)
Once your happy with the second piece you can cut it out. Make sure the 2 pieces match each other in size and shape as best as you can, other wise things will get tricky :-P
Step 4
With the remainder of the cardboard box, measure out pieces that are 1inch in diameter. These pieces will be the sides of your letter so try to make them all 1inch across.
It doesn't matter how long each piece is as you can just stick them together later.
Step 5
Start sticking down the 1inch side pieces to the edge of the front letter piece. You will need to slightly bend them to fit the curves of your letter.
Do this until all the sides make their way around the whole letter.
Step 6
Now add the back letter piece on top of these sides. Make sure that all the sides are even before you do this so that there is no gaps :-)
And now you have your 3D letter!
Step 7
Grab your newspaper and PVA glue to make this bad boy super strong ;-)
Lather on the glue to each section of your letter and cover it with the newspaper. Add another layer of glue on top and let it dry for a few hours.
I used tissue paper at first but I do NOT advise this as it goes all lumpy and you want it nice and smooth so you can paint over it :-)
Repeat this step a second time and once it's all dry then your ready to decorate :-)
Step 7
I painted my letter white and added glitter to the edges, but you can do anything you want to do! :-) You can layer the glitter all over your letter, or you can add fabric or cool paper to your letter, you can even add Rhine stones or wrap fairy lights around it; anything you want!! :-)
