Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review and Comparison to They're Real

I got a sample size of this mascara in Elle magazine and tried it out for a week so I could give you guys a true review :-)

This mascara will be available on the 27th of February. 

The Roller Lash supposedly lifts, curls and separates your lashes and holds this curl for 12 hours.

I tried this mascara without curling my lashes first, and although it did lift and slightly curl my lashes I wouldn't be hanging up my curler any time soon! If wasn't a major curl and my lashes are so straight that I aaaalways use a curler. 

I tried this mascara from Monday to Friday, curling my lashes in the morning and wearing it for 12 hours. 

This mascara adds length to my lashes and hold the curl all day guys, no joke. 

The only downside I found to this mascara was that when my cheeks get slightly oily it does fall a lot, I have to wipe under my eyes every couple of hours to make sure I don't end up looking like a panda! It also doesn't give me a lot of volume so I would probably just use this as a simple day mascara.

They're Real Vs Roller Lash

In comparison to the They're Real Mascara, my lashes look the exact same only the curl is kept all day with the Roller Lash and the They're Real never had any fall out under my eyes. 

If I had to choose between these two I would definitely pick the Roller Lash because that curl lasting power though!!! I haven't tried a mascara that held my curl as long as this bad boy. I can deal with a little under eye smudge ;-) 

It also says on the Benefit website that you can add the They're Real on top of the Roller Lash on your lashes for extra length and drama.

I tried this and it did add a little extra length as well as a lot of clumps that I had to comb out :-P

Heatless Curls Tutorial

There are so many ways to do heatless curls, granted they do take longer to do than curls with heat but they are so much better and healthier for your hair! 

Plus, mine last waaaay longer than they do when I actually use heat :-) 

The middle picture is without flash and the picture on the right is with flash, the perfect bouncy curls!

Each step has an image below in a collage that shows exactly what I'm talking about, just in case it gets a little confusing ;-)

You will need...

1. Damp hair

2. An elastic head band that goes all the way around your head

3. Time!!!

Step 1

Put the headband over your damp hair. Make sure it lies on your forehead and the base of your hairline at you neck, like how you would put a wolly hat on.

Step 2

Take piece of hair anout an inch in width and hold this in one hand.

Step 3 

Using your other hand, pull the head band away from your head.

Step 4

Wrap the piece of hair around the head band once. 

Step 5

This is what your hair should look like (look at number 5 on the pictures below).

Step 6

Take another inch of hair including the piece that you have already wrapped around, and wrap this piece around the band also.

Step 7 

Repeat these steps all the way around the band until all your hair is wrapped :-)

Step 8

Leave your hair to dry like this, the drying time will depend on the length and thickness of your hair. 

When I do this I wash my hair at night and leave it in aaaall night, then take it out in the morning and I have curls for days :-) 

This is what my hair looks like 2 days later after being brushed out a few times..

How to do Gradient / Ombré nails

This method can be used with any colour pairings you like. I chose pink and purple to go with my Valentine's make up look in my previous post ;-) 

Step 1

Remove any polish from your nails and apply your base coat. Pick what colour you want your gradient to be, you can pick 2 or 3 colours. I chose 3 so that I could blend the colours better. 

These are the colours I chose...

Step 2

Once your base coat is dry, paint your nails the lightest colour of your gradient.

Step 3

Using a make up sponge, paint your 2 or 3 strips of colours in a line. Make sure the colours are slightly overlapping each other. 

Step 4

Pat the sponge onto your nail. Keep patting until you have covered the desired amount of nail.

It's ok if it gets on the skin around your nails, you can clean that up later :-)

Do one nail at a time, reapplying the colours to the sponge each time. 

Keep repeating this step until you get the colour payoff and vibrancy that you want.

As you can see from the picture, the first time I patted the sponge the colour payoff was too light for my liking, so I repeated another 2 times so get the end result :-) 

Step 5

Once your nails are completely dry, you can now clean up around the edges using cotton balls and nail varnish remover :-) 

Add a top coat to help blend the look of the colours even more. 

I added a matte top coat but you can add a shiny top coat too :-)

Pink Smokey Valentine's Day Makeup Tutorial

With Valentine's Day approaching I though it would be fun to create a simple pink toned smoked eye :-) 

I am by no means a make up artist but I do love my make up! If you would like to know how to recreate this eye look then keep reading ;-) 

Step 1

Using a any light pink and purple shade you like, take a blending brush or a big fluffy brush and layer the colours lightly into your crease.

Step 2

Take a purple that is a shade or two darker than the one you used in the first step and using a smaller fluffy brush or a pencil brush, deepen the crease colour. Do this in wind-sheild wiper motions across the crease of your eyelid just as you did in step one.

Step 3

Using the same fluffy brush from step 1, combine a light shimmery shade with a dark grey or black shade and pack this one your lid. 

The trick here is to keep blending with the fluffy brush, especially when using darker colours like black.

Step 4

Use the pencil brush to mix the darker purple colour used in step 2 and the dark grey or black shade you used in step 3 and deepen the outer V of the lid. This is the outer third of the eyelid.

Step 5

Using the same brush and colours as before, create a line under your lower lashes. 

If this looks a little too harsh, use the big fluffy brush to help blend it out. 

Step 6

Take the pencil brush and use the dark grey or black colour to darken the crease and outer V once more. 

This step is optional, depending on how dark you want your look. 

Step 7

Wipe off the pencil brush or use a clean brush to add a shimmery or any highlight colour to your brow bone and inner corner. 

From here you can add eyeliner to your waterline, liquid eyeliner to your lid, and mascara to finish off the look :-) 

I added liquid liner and some mascara to make my eyes really pop!

D.I.Y Makeup Storage Drawers

How cute are these mini drawers? Perfect for storing makeup or anything at all! 

What you will need...

1. Stiff cardboard box (whatever size you want your drawers to be)

2. Softer cardboard box. This must fit into the other box somehow. Mine fitted in length ways.

3. Scissors

4. Tape

5. Measuring tape or ruler

6. Pencil

7. Ribbon or anything to make handles

8. Super glue 

9. Paint in a colour of your choice

10. And of course a paintbrush ;)

Step 1: 

Cut the 4 flaps off of the stiff cardboard box. Figure out how you want to fit the other box into this box (the second box will become the drawers)

 

Step 2: 

I needed to cut my second box in half to make the drawers fit so, using a measuring tape I measured the halfway point in the middle of the second box and drew a line all the way down to help me when cutting.

I repeated this step with each side of the box until I had a continuous line all the way around the box.

Make sure you don't apply pressure to the box when making the line as this will alter the measurements. 

Each of the lines on the box should line up with each other, if not keep trying until they do. 

Step 3:

Make a hole in a part of the line with a scissors and cut the whole way along the line until you end up with 2 equal halves. 

Step 4: 

Taking one of the halves, pick one of the longer sides and cut it off completely. You may have to tape down any pieces that may come loose at this stage. 

Take the piece you just cut off and tape it back onto the top. Repeat this with the other half. 

These are now your drawers.

Step 5: 

Take the 2 shorter flaps that you cut off the first box in step 1 and super glue them into the sides of the box. Note that this is not necessary if your drawers fit perfectly into the box, mine did not.

Then take one of the long sections and glue it into the middle of the box. 

This will help to keep your drawers more secure. 

Step 6: 

Remove each section of your drawers and paint them any colours you want! 

Wait for them to dry completely and add another coat if necessary.

Step 7:

Once each piece of completely dry, it is now time to add the handles! There are many different types of handles you can make. You can superglue on any buttons or light weight things you can find, like I did :-)

Or...

You can make adorable bow handles!

First, measure and mark the centre of each of your drawers. 

Make a hole with your scissors 3cm (these measurements can be changed depending on the width of your ribbon) on either side of this mark. Cut these holes into 3cm vertical lines (going down).

Feed the ribbon into the left hole and back out the right hole. Tie both sides of the ribbon into a knot and then make them into a bow shape, just like tying your shoe laces! :-) 

They will look something like this...

Aaaand your done! Re-assemble your drawers and put in your favourite make up products or anything else you want to store!

Urban Decay Electric Palette Swatches & Review

I recently purchased the Urban Decay Electric Palette at the Urban Decay stand in Debenhams (it retails for €45).

The colour payoff for each of these eyeshadow is just amazing, each colour is so so pigmented! I was unsure at first whether I would get much use out of it but here are a few looks I have done so far with it...

If you would like a tutorial on any of these looks please leave a comment down below 👇😊 I would also recommend using an eyeshadow base before you apply these shadows because the staying power is real and some of these just don't want to budge ;) 

As these eyeshadows are actually pressed pigments, the pigmentation is insane and a little goes a long way!

Each of these colours have slight tiny specks of glitter in them, some showing up more glittery than others like Revolt, Gonzo and Slowburn compared to the almost satin colours Savage, Urban and Jilted. Here are some arm swatches of all the colours...

The blue colour Chaos is also in the Vice palette :) these colours are easy to blend as well, which makes them even better 😜

The palette also contains a double ended purple haired brush. I use the bigger side to pack on the colour and the smaller side to pack colour under my water line 

As you can see my brush is a little dirty from using it today 😜 

Overall I absolutely adore this palette and would reccommend to anyone who is looking to add some colour into their make up collection 😃

Benefit's Porefessional Vs Loreal Blur Cream

So I have heard of a few dupes for the porefessional by Benefit and decided to try this one; the Nude Magique Blur Cream by Loreal Paris. 

Both of these primers suggest that they do the same thing, minimise the look of pores! 

I have been using the Porefessional for a few months now and I love it, it does exactly what it says it does. But at €34 for a 22ml tube it can be very expensive to be using it a couple times a week like I do. So when I heard that the Loreal blur cream is a dupe I just had to test it out ;-) The Loreal blur cream is €12.99 for a 25ml tube which is significantly cheaper, but how does it compare? 

First off I compared the textures of the product... 

The Porefessional is a slightly thicker consistency than the blur cream, also the blur cream can be difficult to get out of the tube. The blur cream comes in 2 shades which are light to medium and medium to dark, however I did not notice any colour payoff from the product. The Porefessional is only available in the one colour as far as I know but again, there is no real colour payoff. 

Also, the Porefessional has a faint make up smell (which is nice!) whereas there is no noticeable smell off of the blur cream. 

As for application, I did need twice as much of the blur cream to do the same job as the Porefessional. Both products felt the same once applied to the face, and both did a good job at covering my pores! I also tested the longevity of the products and after 4 hours they are both still intact and still concealing them pores!! :-D

The above picture is the Loreal Blur Cream after 4 hours of wear, the picture below is the Porefessional... Pretty similar if you ask me!

My overall opinion is that the Porefessional is slightly better at covering larger pores than the blur cream, but on smaller pores there is no difference between the 2 products!
