DIY Wednesday: Xmas Decor

There are so many cute ways to decorate your house/ bed room without spending all the money's. I do this every year and today I'm going to share with you 5 cute ways that you can add a bit of holiday cheer to your lives using recycled bits and bobs and spending little to no money :-)

So if you are interested in how I DIY'd these festive things below, as well as some more super cute things, then just keep reading :-)

1: Tree Decorations
So every year I like to revamp my old decorations by painting them a different colour or adding some cute glitter :-)
This year I went with rose gold, because I'm all about the rose gold this year ;-)

I used the Montana Gold spray paint, I got this in Art & Hobby for any of my Irish gals interested, it was only €7 ;-)

2: Picture Frames
So you may already have some nice frames with cute pics on your walls. If you want to give them a more Christmassy feel then you can wrap your whole frames in wrapping paper and add bows and ribbons! I did this last year too, you can read my last years DIY Christmas decor post HERE.

You can also print out some Christmassy (is this even a word???!!!) images, or use holiday themed paper and stick them into your frames for a fun little Christmas addition to your rooms :-)

3: Lights, Lights Everywhere!
Nothing gets me more in the holiday mood then adding fairy lights to absolutely everything in my room!!!

I got these cute flower lights in Primark this year and added them to an ice cream bowl also from Primark for a cute festive look. I literally love this because I can keep it in my room all year round as its so versatile.

You can add fairy lights around your bed head board, your curtains, you can even pop them into mason jars for a twinkling festive feel :-)

4: Stag Head Cushion Cover
Last year I decorated some of my cushions but adding cute ribbon to them.

This year I went all out and made a glittery stag on a plain white cushion case because stag heads are so very in this year!

So for this you need;
1️⃣ A plain cushion case,
2️⃣ A stencil of a stag head or whatever it is you want on your cushion,
3️⃣ Some glue and some glitter (or glitter glue) or any paint colour of your choice!

Step 1
I lay the cushion case flat onto a table top (you might want to put some cardboard underneath to protect your table), also add some cardboard inside your pillow case so that the glue doesn't stick your pillow case together!

Step 2
I printed out a simple stag head outline on some thicker card paper and cut out the inside of the stag head.

Then I sellotaped the stencil down on the pillow case where I wanted the stag to be.

Step 3
I used my Montana Gold spray paint to colour in my stag head. Do this in a well ventilated area (preferably outside) and spray thin coats from 8-10 inches away from your pillow cases until you are happy with how it looks :-)

You will need to hold down the stencil at the edges when your spraying them so that they don't end up too messy looking like mine did! :-)

You can also use a hot glue gun and some silver glitter glue to colour in your stag. You also need to be careful around the edges of the stencil here so that your edges are clean and crisp and don't end up too jagged like mine did!!!

Or you can add a think layer of glue to your stag and sprinkle loose glitter on top ;-) if you do this you will want to add another layer of clear glue on top of the glitter once it has all dried so that the glitter is less likely to fall off and transfer onto anything and everything around it (you guys know the struggle with glitter :-P)

5: Bed Sheets
To add an extra festive feel to your bedroom you can always buy some Christmas bed sheets! Mine were super affordable from Primark!

You can add soft fluffy blankets for a more cosy feel too!

So last year I made some more DIY's, if you are interested in how I made this cute xmas tree below, then you can read how I did it, and all my other Xmas DIY's from last year HERE :-)

Hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know how you guys decorate your rooms and houses in the comments below :-)

Love & Hugs, Lora xo
